The Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) has completely changed how the U.S. Army measures physical readiness. Replacing the decades-old APFT, the ACFT is designed to reflect real-world combat challenges, making it a more accurate and demanding test for soldiers across all units.

The ACFT includes six events that test strength, endurance, power, and agility:

  • 3-Repetition Maximum Deadlift

  • Standing Power Throw

  • Hand-Release Push-Ups

  • Sprint-Drag-Carry

  • Plank Hold

  • 2-Mile Run

Each event is scored from 0 to 100 points. To pass the ACFT, soldiers must earn a minimum of 60 points in each event, totaling at least 360 points overall. However, high scores (500+) are often needed for competitive career advancement. The test is gender-neutral but adjusted based on age to ensure fairness and physical realism.
