A standard Profhilo course is just two sessions, four weeks apart. Results build steadily from there, peak at around eight to twelve weeks after your first appointment, and typically last around six months before a single top up is needed.
That’s a lot of glow for two short appointments. But because Profhilo works gradually, it’s easy to wonder in the early weeks whether anything is happening at all. It is. It’s just happening below the surface first.
This guide walks through the Profhilo Skin Booster journey week by week, so you know what’s normal, what’s coming next and when to judge your results.
Before Week One: Consultation and Preparation
Your results start with a good consultation. Your practitioner should look closely at your skin, ask about your medical history and talk through what you’d like to improve. This is also the moment to confirm Profhilo is the right fit. It’s designed to improve hydration, texture and laxity, not to add volume or relax expression lines.
In the week before treatment, a little preparation goes a long way:
- Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand, as it can make bruising more likely
- Ask your GP or practitioner whether to pause supplements like fish oil, vitamin E or ginkgo, which can thin the blood
- Reschedule if you have a cold sore, skin infection or active breakout in the treatment area
- Plan around big events, leaving at least a few days for any bumps or bruises to settle
Taking a few clear photos in natural light before your first session is worth it too. Profhilo changes are gradual, and comparisons help you see how far your skin has come.
Week One: Session One and Settling In
Your first appointment is quick, usually under 30 minutes. A standard face treatment uses 10 small injections, five on each side, at points chosen to avoid major blood vessels and nerves.
Straight afterwards you’ll see small raised bumps at each point. They look a bit alarming but are completely expected, and they usually flatten within a few hours to a day as the product spreads. Mild redness, tenderness or the odd bruise can linger for a couple of days.
By the end of the week, most visible signs of treatment have gone. Some people already notice skin that feels softer and looks a touch brighter, mainly from the hydrating effect.
Week Two: Hydration Takes Hold
Each syringe contains 64 mg of hyaluronic acid, which pulls water into the skin and holds it there. By week two, that tends to show as a dewier finish and fewer dry or tight patches.
Under the surface, the slower work has begun. As the hyaluronic acid releases, it encourages your skin to produce more collagen and elastin.
Week Three: The Quiet Phase
Week three can feel uneventful, and that’s normal. Your skin is rebuilding, but the firmness hasn’t fully surfaced yet. This is where people sometimes lose faith. Don’t. The best is still ahead.
Week Four: Session Two
Around four weeks after your first appointment, you’ll go back for the second half of the course. The process is identical: the same 10 points, the same brief bumps, the same quick recovery.
This session is what turns a nice glow into a lasting result. The first treatment primes your skin and starts the collagen response. The second tops up the hyaluronic acid and reinforces that response while it’s already under way. People who skip session two often feel Profhilo “didn’t do much”, when in reality they’ve only had half the treatment.
Weeks Five and Six: Building Momentum
Once the second round of bumps settles, many people notice their skin looks more consistently hydrated from morning to evening. Makeup sits better, and the skin feels smoother under your fingertips. Friends may start commenting that you look well.
Weeks Seven and Eight: Firmness Shows Up
This is where the collagen and elastin work becomes visible. Skin starts to look tighter and springier, particularly along the lower face and jawline. Crepey areas, such as the neck or the skin around the mouth, often look noticeably smoother. Compare your photos now. The difference is usually clearer on camera than in the mirror.
Weeks Nine to Twelve: Peak Glow
For most people, this is the high point. Hydration, radiance and firmness are all working together. Fine lines look softer, skin reflects light more evenly and the overall effect is fresh rather than “done”. Your features stay exactly the same, which is precisely why the results look so natural.
Months Four to Six: Holding Steady
Results usually hold well through months four, five and six. The effect fades gradually rather than dropping off suddenly, so you’ll likely notice a slow return of dryness or dullness rather than an overnight change.
How long your results last depends on more than the treatment itself. Daily SPF, good sleep, hydration and not smoking all help. Heavy sun exposure and a harsh skincare routine can shorten things.
Month Six and Beyond: Maintenance
To keep your skin in its best condition, most practitioners recommend one maintenance session roughly every six months. You don’t need to repeat the full two session course unless there’s been a long gap. Many people book their top up at the change of season, so it becomes part of their routine.
Giving Your Results a Boost
Profhilo works well on its own, but some patients choose to layer it with treatments that support the skin in a different way.
PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Skin Therapy is a natural partner. It uses growth factors concentrated from a small sample of your own blood to encourage repair and renewal. Combined with the hydration Profhilo delivers, it can take improvements in tone, texture and fine lines further than either treatment alone. Your practitioner will usually plan the sessions a couple of weeks apart so they fit neatly around your Profhilo timeline.
And if you’ve noticed your hair looking thinner around the same time your skin started to lose its bounce, you’re not alone. PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) Hair Therapy uses the same approach on the scalp, supporting weaker follicles and encouraging fuller, healthier growth over a course of treatments.
Two Appointments, Six Months of Better Skin
Profhilo asks for very little: two short sessions, a few days of simple aftercare and some patience while your skin does the rest. In return, you get months of hydration, radiance and firmness that still looks completely like you.
